Raffineria di Milazzo is constantly active in the prevention and control of the environmental impacts generated by its activities, and implements said commitment through investments aimed at improving the energy performance of its installations, reducing atmospheric emissions, safeguarding topsoil, subsoil as well as surface and subsoil waters, correctly disposing of waste while maximizing recycling.

The systematic search for the best available technologies in the field, also known as BAT (Best Available Techniques), is an essential element of the Raffineria di Milazzo’s culture.

The Refinery has implemented, and regularly updated, an Integrated Management System (IMS) for issues related to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.

On February 14, 2011, RAM obtained, from the Ministry for the Environment, the Autorizzazione Integrata Ambientale (AIA) in line with the International Plant Protection Convention. The purpose of such regulation is to pursue the protection of the environment through an integrated approach.
